Tornado Tour Inforamtion Our tours
are open to anyone 18 years and older. We will accept 16 and
17 year olds with a parent or guardian accompanying them. If
you suffer from any medical conditions, such as
heart
problems, blood pressure problems, diabetes, or motion
sickness, please consult with your doctor before booking your tour.
If you are in a condition that prevents you from getting in and out
of the veichle quickly or sitting comfortably in the veichle, the tour may
present some hardship for you as well. We will do our best to
accommodate everyone. Please contact us about your needs
and together we can determine if a storm chase tour is suitable for
you.
Please
pack lightly. Because of cargo restrictions, we are forced to limit
everyone to one medium-sized suitcase and a personal item such as a
backpack or purse. We will do our best to accommodate as much
luggage as possible, but please understand that space is limited.
We use 15 passenger vans or SUVs and limit the number of people per
veichle so each person can have a window seat. Vans are
limited to six passengers and SUVs are limited to four passengers. Most hotels will have laundry facilities available. We recommend you
pack the following:
On the road, we will do our best to get the group to an area where
severe weather is possible. Unfortunately there are some days, even
during storm season, when severe weather just isn’t going to happen.
On these days, we will travel to any nearby tourist attractions. In
addition, some days will be “travel days” where we will drive all
day to get to the next day’s target. Some of the sites we visit include: the National Severe Storms Laboratory and Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma, the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colorado and other weather-related facilities, the Twister Museum in Wakita, OK, Cadillac Ranch and Big Texan in Amarillo, Palo Duro Canyon in Texas, the world's largest ball of twine in Kansas, Chimney Rock National Monument in Nebraska and Mt. Rushmore in South Dakota. And, there are the miles of beautiful prairie landscapes, and skyscapes, that every day of the tour offers! At the end of each chase day, we head for a clean, comfortable hotel where guests can recharge for the next day's chase. Lodging is paid for by Wild West Tours during the tour. All meals are paid for by guests. Tour fees do not include your travel to and from the staging hotel, so please plan accordingly.
